g2 reviews API documentation

We provide a simple to setup REST API that returns reviews in JSON format. Before integrating the API you should be aware of the following:

  • The g2 API returns 25 reviews per request.
  • The order in which reviews are returned is by descending date(from newest to oldest).
  • You can get all reviews from a single place by using the offset parameter.

To get reviews from Wextractor you will need to perform GET requests against the https://wextractor.com/api/v1/reviews/g2 endpoint.

Reviews endpoint parameters:

Parameter Required Description Example
auth_token Required Your API token for authentication. Once you register to Wextractor you can extract this key from your account's setting page. -
id Required A textual identifier that uniquely identifies a place in g2. This identifier can be taken from the url of the product in g2. For example, if the url for the place in g2 is https://www.g2.com/products/asana the identifier is asana asana
offset Optional This parameter defines the result offset. It skips the given number of reviews. It's used for pagination. (e.g., 0 (default) is the first page of results, 25 is the 2nd page of results, 50 is the 3rd page of results, etc.). 25

Example usage:

https://wextractor.com/api/v1/reviews/g2?id=slack&auth_token=XXXXX&offset=0

Example response:

Our team is also instantly alerted to production-grade issues via integrations with many tools such as Bot-based notification whenever something like a breaking of the CI/CD pipeline happens.\nWhat do you dislike?\nOn free plans, message history is limited and gets deleted after reaching a certain number. Its web app running in the browser consumes too much memory and often hogs when you have multiple channels and workspaces.\nWhat problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?\nTeam communication and collaboration. Private messaging with limited team members, channels for specific tasks, ability to collaborate via audio (huddle), video (calls and screen sharing). It also provides many apps and integrations with various saas and software tools. If any team member is in a google meet, we immediately know this since we have integrated with google apps. We also get previews of files shared, github action triggers, miro updates, and bot-based notification alerts.",

You can have both public and private channels of communication that helps segregate the conversations.\n2. Easy sharing of documents, information and data.\n3. Great User Interface and User Experience.\n4. Fast and easy to use.\nWhat do you dislike?\nThere are something that I am not a huge fan of when using Slack, especially for work. There are times when it can be quite distracting due to the constant notifications that eep popping up. The notifications also sometimes induce a mini-panic or anxiety in people especially when meeting deadlines.\nWhat problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?\nThe problems that Slack solves:\n1. We did not have a space for communication unless it was Microsoft Teams or Google workspace chats. This platform is dedicated to communication and having proper segregation between projects, clients and platforms.\n2. Setting deadlines and organisation of tasks. When you use Slack, you can set a to-do list, and when someone assigns a task to you - you can set a reminder at a specified time to follow up or complete it.\n3. Easy sharing of files - We had to use emails each time to share small files or upload it on the drive. Here, we just drag and drop the files.\n4. Quick calls or chats that we need is solved by the Huddle feature: Easy to have a quick chat and drive the task to completion. You can also request them share their screen, guide and annotate on the screen.",

Slack allows communicating with all employees that work for the company and all departments, from a brand new hire agent, Team Leaders, up to the company's owners. I didn't realize until writing this review that you could go in and change it (it reminded me and I investigated). So maybe if that was a bit more clear, that you could adjust those settings. The other thing I don't really like is that it is tough to incorporate non-business account users. We have a lot of freelance and interns - so it would be nice to give them more freedom to message people.\nWhat problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?\nIt helps us connect across teams - again I really like that you can make different channels and label them. So in our office, we label each channel with the project name, that way its really easy to find previous discussions.",

Frequently asked questions:

  • How do I get all the reviews for a single place?
  • You need to perform multiple requests incrementing the offset until you get a response without any reviews in it.

  • Does the API have rate limits?
  • Yes, since g2 is pretty strict at blocking requests you will be rate limited if you perform more than one request per second.
